Shelter volunteering

Dog walking, cat socializing, and cleaning shifts are almost always needed and require no long-term commitment to start.

Transport volunteering

Some rescues need help driving animals between shelters, vet visits, and foster homes.

Where to start: The Grey Muzzle Organization funds grantee shelters nationwide rather than running its own foster program directly — the fastest path is contacting a senior-pet rescue or shelter local to you and asking about their foster and volunteer options.
